Have you always wanted to participate in a polio vaccination campaign in India?

This may be your last chance.

If interested in the offer below please contact Michelle Tanner in the first instance.

Volunteers are invited to participate in the 3-5 January 2020 National (polio) Immunisation Days (NIDs) in India. The experience will combine:
  • Participation in polio immunisation activities
  • Interaction with local Rotarians
  • Visits to local Rotary projects
  • Experiences in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur

Soon India will no longer use oral polio vaccines as they will be replaced with the injected polio vaccine. This is a normal part of the eradication programme. At this point, Rotary volunteers will no longer be able to participate in polio immunisation programmes. If you have always wanted to participate in an NID this may be your last chance.

The Rotary Club of Agra Tajmahal is offering 3, 5, 8 or 10-night options for your trip. Expressions of interest forms and further information are available from District 9930 Polio Chair Michelle Tanner or the RC Agra Tajmahal’s Facebook page.

  • Your Participation gives tremendous boost to local Rotarians who have been managing booths regularly for many years and where undoubtedly fatigue is setting in.
  • Most important of all, we get a higher turnout of children in a poor area or slum of Agra when there are strange foreigners with their bright faces and in yellow Rotary shirts asking for having 2 drops of Polio Vaccine.
  • Giving an opportunity to a person as volunteer in knowing have prevented dozens of children from this horrible disease and many find they had a very moving experience.
  • Indian hosts waiting to welcome with open arms creating unique and exceptional itinerary. In addition to Polio Immunization Rounds, you will participate in special Rotary activities , Social events and Rotary club projects visit.

Impact of your visit: Giving 2 drops of Polio to dozens of kids with your appeal that no child to be left without drops, directly benefits one family/community but indirectly appx 3000 to 5000 people

Our objective: Create awareness among our community by giving polio drops and to make sure India remains Polio free.

Positive changes: because of foreign Rotarians visit people in local community who were not taking drops accepted this campaign and got converted from nonrecipient cases .
