Lesley started by telling us about the organization she works for Enable NZ.
Based in Palmerston North the area covers from the Bombay Hills in Auckland right through to the South Island.
Enable NZ's function is….. Supporting disabled people to live everyday lives in their communities. Enable New Zealand is a division of Mid Central District Health Board that provides disability services in New Zealand.
The Ministry of Health, ACC and other DHBs contract our services, which include the following:
- Disability information services
- Disability equipment, housing modification and vehicle modification services
- Disability needs assessment and service coordination (NASC) services for people under 65 years of age (Mid Central region).
Lesley demonstrated a wide variety of equipment available, from can openers, walking sticks, mobility scooters, gadgets for putting your socks on, the list goes on.
