All over the world, women and girls lose days of school, work, and family life because they don't have what they need during that time of the month. The Days for Girls movement is changing that tune — with your help!
This could not be a more appropriate month to support DAYS FOR GIRLS. For just $20 you would be supporting a girl going through puberty. Days for Girls kits are being made right here in our District and then distribute when and where needed around the world.
At the 2018 District Conference Immediate Past District Governor Leonie Tish was delighted to have Celeste Mergens, founder, and CEO for Days for Girls International, speak to us about this remarkable programme.
Celeste founded the organisation to support maturing young women who were dropping out of school during their menstrual cycle. She saw the need and acted on it, giving girls dignity and to help break the poverty cycle through simple little kits. With each ‘kit’ lasting up to three years and costing about NZ$20 per girls, this is less than or NZ$7 per year to Make a Difference.
