The District Training and Development Committee  works primarily with the District Governor Elect in the planning and presentation of all training for the District.  District Training focuses on the following areas:

President-Elect Seminars (PETS)

Every club in D9930 annually elects a new president who takes office at the beginning of the Rotary Year which starts of July 1. A comprehensive training programme is conducted in two mandatory seminars.
  • PETS-1:  These workshops are held in late October / early November for president-elects.  The training is designed to familiarise incoming presidents with the scope of their repsonsibility for the upcoming year, provide them with tools to help them be an effective club leader, and provide networking opportunities with other clubs in the District.

  • South Pacific PETS:  In March each year a 2-day conference is held in Auckland for all president-elects from the 6 New Zealand districts which include the Pacific Island clubs.  The conference focuses on the full scope of Rotary International through a series of workshops and international speakers.

District Chairs and Champions Training

An annual training workshop is held shortly after the start of each Rotary year for all committee chairs and those with other district leadership responsibilities.  The workshop focuses on the overall district goals and objectives for the year, and provides training their responsibilities for interacting with the district.

Assistant Governor Training

This workshop gives Assistant Governors the opportunity to explore the challenges and solutions within the responsibilities of the position.  It’s a hands-on opportunity to learn from more experienced peers within the District, and share ideas on how to be successful in the role.

Club Leaders Seminar

In preparation for the start of the Rotary Year,a regional seminar is scheduled for 9th May in Taupo.  This seminar is open to any Rotarians and are specifically focused on helping those in the club who have leadership roles to be effective within their club.

Foundation Grant Seminars

Workshops are offered to assist club presidents and Rotary Foundation chairs to understand how the foundation works and how that can be effective in promoting The Rotary Foundation in their clubs. These are scheduled to take place as part of the Club Leaders Seminar.

RLI (Rotary Learning and Information) Training

The RLI programme (formerly knows as "Rotary Leadership Institute) offers three interactive, fast-paced training days that are designed to increase Rotary knowledge and foster a pool of enthusiastic, contributing Rotarians.   To learn more about RLI, click here.
