Public Image - Information, Communication, Technology
There have been considerable changes to the way Rotary has been approaching our Public Image and the role of the Pubic Image & Information Technology committee, along with every Rotarian, is to get Rotary's essence statement to the public:
“Rotary unites leaders from all continents, cultures and occupations to exchange ideas and take action for communities around the world.”
The goal of this Public Image committee is help clubs raise the profile of Rotary in District 9930 and to proffer support and assistance to the 54 clubs in the district. This responsibility covers the understanding by Rotarians of Public Image and the relationship between Rotary and the community. Members of your committee are able to assist with media and explain the importance of presentation both within Rotary and externally.
The new “Rotary Brand” has now been with us for three years and all clubs are asked to ensure that the old branding is being phased out as soon as is reasonable. For more information go to “My Rotary” and in the drop down menu “Manage” go to “Brand Center” where you’ll find all the detail on what to do. If you have any questions concerning colours or usage, have a look in the “Brand Center” for the document “Voice and Visual” which gives the codes for all the colours and fonts which can be used. It’s much greater than ever before but does have some restrictions.
Information, Communication and Technology are stressed as important topics by Rotary International. The committee endeavours to ensure clubs are approaching this in a way which will allow all members to become part of the “My Rotary” family on www.rotary.org, our Rotary International website. The committee chair represents D9930 clubs on Rotary Zone Communications which is the Zone 7b regional resource for the marketing and funding of major national public image campaigns: “End Polio Now”, “Blood Pressure Awareness”, “Red Nose Day” and Rotary Projects Day on or about 23 February – Rotary’s birthday.
The committee is responsible for the publication of the District Newsletter, publication of generic articles in various media, assistance to clubs with their own media requirements, assistance with articles and advertising for Rotary Down Under and providing a variety of resources available for use by clubs throughout the district.
New District Website
In July 2015, a major initiative by the Public Image and Technology Committee was launched, the all new www.rotary9930.org website – you are here. Now it’s time for phases two and three.
Phase Two is to link with the other five districts covering Oceania and this will be via a totally new website taking the place of www.rotarysouthpacific.org which has now been retired completely. The new website, www.rotaryoceania.zone is up and running right now and will evolve during the first three months of this Rotary year into a very special website with many new and interesting facets. More on this as and when it comes to pass however be assured, this is in place to provide us with the best communications between ourselves and the five other districts in our zone, that we have seen.
Phase Three is what is happening to our District 9930 website which already a year down the track, is being updated. This will take the form of using a new Millennium platform designed for it to operate correctly on Tablets and IPads as well as phones.
A new feature of the district website is its full-integration with the Rotary International database which means that clubs only need to enter member data in the district website and it will be automatically synced with the RI database. But that is just the beginning of the benefits of our new ClubRunner site. Many of these benefits will be obvious as you browse the site, but as clubs and district leaders become familiar with the features of the ClubRunner platform, the power of our new website as a Public Image, and club administration, tool will continue to grow.
