I was born in Morrinsville, and raised at Kiwitahi, where I attended Kiwitahi Primary School and later Morrinsville College.

In 1992, the Ministry of Transport and New Zealand Police merged.
I remained working in Road Policing until 2017, when I transferred to the Waikato Investigation Support Unit until my retirement in April 2022.
My introduction to Rotary was when I was invited to attend a Polio Fundraising Dinner run by the Rotary Club of Huntly.
In September 1988 I joined Huntly Rotary, where I have held most Club Officer positions and have served as Club President on four occasions.
I was Area 1, Assistant Governor for the period 2018 to 2021.
In 2020, I was appointed as the District Rotary Foundation Chair, having been on the District Rotary Foundation committee for several years.
In 2004, I was recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow by District 9930 for services to District and in 2007 I was recognised with a Paul Harris Saphire Pin by the Huntly Rotary Club.
I’m married to Nancy, and we currently reside in Huntly.
