District - Club Development

Effective membership of our Rotary clubs is vital for the survival of your club. Membership is a function that ALL members of clubs must take ownership.

This is to keep your club a vital and interesting club for your existing members and the image of your club in local communities.

When we talk about membership we mean that you look at your Club and consider how you can Develop Your Club through 5 easy steps:

  1. Health of the Club
  2. Retention of existing members
  3. Educate and Train existing and new members for future leadership
  4. Public Image focus locally
  5. Attract new members

The 9930 Club Development Plan has the following strategic priorities

  • Increase membership diversity:  Develop clubs that are more reflective of the local community. Identify and act on opportunities to increase diversity. Provide opportunities for Non-Rotarians to participate in club activities and projects. Investigate innovative membership types, club structures and operations. Promote inter-club support within areas
  • Develop skilled and informed Rotarians: . Continue to develop effective training at district and club level. Assess and increase member’s knowledge of Rotary. Encourage participation in events and programs that enhance Rotary awareness. Enhance Rotary information sharing within clubs. Encourage new members to learn more of Rotary. Provide additional resources to clubs to increase members knowledge.
  • Support innovative and flexible clubs: Conduct regular club forums to review club health. Adopt a 3 year management process.
  • Create strategic Partnerships: Run projects with local government and businesses. Align projects with local community needs. Satellite clubs and groups. Corporate membership.
  • Enhance brand recognition, understanding and trust.
  • Identify ambassadors to promote membership of Rotary: Promote Rotary Week and Rotary achievements.
  • Rejuvenate website, social media and public image assets:  Establish and publicise club projects.
  • Support non-Rotarians to attending conferences.
The District Membership Director and Committee wish to consult, guide and assist clubs in their membership development.  We also wish to create new membership initiatives, strengthen existing clubs, create satellite groups and open where we can new and innovative clubs.
