Rotaract Waikato-Bay of Plenty

Rotaract Waikato-Bay of Plenty is a youth-led service club for young adults aged 20–33 across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. Established in 2025 by RYLA alumni Vanessa Mason and Charla Dougal, our club was created to provide a space where young people can connect, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Currently, our club has 15 members from a wide range of backgrounds and professions, with many members having participated in the District 9930 RYLA programme. Our guiding kaupapa is "Service and Society" – bringing together like-minded young people who are passionate about giving back while building meaningful friendships and professional networks.

Unlike traditional Rotary clubs, Rotaract is designed specifically for young adults. We meet through a combination of service projects, social events, and personal development workshops. Our members come from throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, allowing us to support a variety of organisations and community initiatives across the region.

Each month, our members participate in volunteer projects through our "Good in Our Hood" programme. Since our formation, we have supported organisations including Kids in Need Waikato, the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust, and Te Aroha Riding for the Disabled. Our members have contributed to environmental restoration projects, conservation initiatives, community support programmes, and practical hands-on volunteering opportunities.

Rotaract Waikato-Bay of Plenty also maintains strong connections with Rotary and District 9930 youth programmes. Our members actively support RYLA and are passionate about creating pathways for young leaders to continue their Rotary journey after attending youth development programmes.

As a growing club, our focus is on expanding our membership, increasing our impact within local communities, and providing opportunities for young adults to develop leadership, service, and lifelong connections. We believe that when young people are empowered to serve, they can create meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

Visitors are always welcome. If you are interested in service, leadership, and meeting motivated young people from across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, we would love to hear from you!
