The Australian Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port Melbourne has once again demonstrated their commitment
to the Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self"
In February the community of Hastings Rotary Club of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand was hit hard by Cyclone Gabrielle causing heavy rainfall and floods that devastated their community, causing significant damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Within days the members of the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port Melbourne. Lead by Eric Mckenzie, were quick to respond, recognizing the importance of providing support to those in need during these difficult times.

Through their fundraising efforts, the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port Melbourne was able to raise a substantial amount of money, which they have now donated to their sister club in New Zealand. The funds will be used to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the flood, including emergency shelter, food, and medical supplies using the Mayor’s Hawkes Bay Disaster Relief Fund Trust as a conduit to affect this support to its community.

The Hastings Rotary Club of New Zealand, which will celebrate their centenary next year, expressed their gratitude for the generous donation, which they say will go a long way in helping their community recover from the devastating effects of the flood. They are proud to be a part of a global organization that embodies the spirit of compassion, kindness, and service.
This is not the first time that the Rotary Club of Australia has stepped up to help their fellow Rotarians in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. In the past, they have provided support for disaster relief efforts, education programs, and community development projects.

Their ongoing commitment to service has made a positive impact on countless individuals and communities across the globe.

The Rotary Club of Australia and New Zealand are part of a larger global network of Rotary Clubs, which operate in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The Rotary Club's mission is to provide humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

In times of crisis, it is heartening to see how the Rotary Club's network can come together to support one another. The donation from the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port Melbourne to their sister club in New Zealand is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and service.
