The Taradale Volunteer Fire Station has benefitted from the generous donation from the Rotary Club of Taradale and the Rotary Foundation.The Taradale Fire Station is now the proud recipient of a Thermal Imaging Camera.
On Thursday the Club President Claire Connor officially presented this important piece of kit to Paul Hughes, Senior Station Officer, and learned how much of a difference it was making to their team.
The Thermal Imaging Camera can see through darkness/smoke and identify people and the source of the heat. The value of the camera is in the vicinity of $8000, the cost being shared between the Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Taradale.
A very successful partnership using Rotary Foundation money to support a local community project benefiting Taradale, Greenmeadows and the immediate rural communities including Puketapu.
Following a visit by Paul to the Taradale Rotary Club in August 2019, the Club’s Foundation Committee embraced the idea of applying for a Rotary District 9930 District Grant, funded from “The Rotary Foundation”. This was supported by the Club using funds from the Puketapu Auction and Fair, as was the application by the District Foundation Committee.
The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary with donations and funds collected used for community and global projects.
Brigade members hosted the club members from Taradale Rotary during the presentation and visit to the Station.
