Speaker Kirby Tania has become involved with CACTUS in Wairoa.She is an ex British and NZ army officer, but after the birth of her daughter, Montana, she retrained as a teacher.
Kirby is an enthusiastic promoter of the local CACTUS (Combined Adolescent Challenge Training Unit Support) program which involves students from Wairoa College, & the Kura, and homeschooled students as well.

The 8-week course encourages students to make good choices, provides basic discipline, and good role models and is increasing participants’ self poise and self-confidence, in addition to improving their fitness levels. The 26th intake has just finished.
