Last month a team of twelve Eye Care For Africa volunteers visited Tanzania.
They were led by Hastings optometrist Niall McCormack (an honorary member of Havelock North Rotary Club), optometrist Lillian Lei from Whanganui and GP Dr Peter Culham from Hastings.
The new eye clinic at Shinyanga has been built using funds raised from Niall’s recent 3,000km walk from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Niall and Peter managed to cram into their suitcases 200 pairs of donated spectacles, which had been cleaned, checked, and measured by the members of Havelock North Rotary Club.queue before opening
