Cannan Tuhara, Event and Engagement Lead, and Stewart Brown, Manager of the Arts & Culture Group of RLC. Rotorua Museum is a category 1 Heritage listed building—the project to rebuild it has been complex both in terms of the building and the grounds.

Stewart spoke about the Museum project to date, the progress, the challenges, and the timeline to completion. The roof alone consists of 26,400 tiles, weighing 500 tonnes on a wet day.

It is anticipated that the detailed design will be completed in November this year with the opening planned for 2025.

Cannan spoke about the work to engage the community to gain feedback and ideas as to what they would like to see, hear and experience in the museum when it re-opens.

He will be visiting the club again on 31 August to facilitate an engagement session with members—this would be a great opportunity to invite a guest. More about the
