Rotary Maketu was recognised at the 2018 Trustpower Community Service awards event for its service to the Paengaroa community. In making the award, the presenter focused on the unique cycleway rest area project that was funded, in part, by a District 9930 Rotary Foundation grant. She also cited several examples of how the club had expanded its vision of service to the neighbouring communities of Paengaroa and Pukehina.
Rotary Maketu was one of eight community organisations out of 70 nominations from the Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty region, who were acknowledged for their exemplary service to the community.
