Wow!! What a great night we had on Friday for our Paralympic Charity Dinner. A wonderful setting for the occasion, 240 people, an excellent meal, a great guest speaker in Liam Malone, an exceptional auction thanks to Kevin Deane our auctioneer, and everything went according to plan. The buzz around the room indicated how much people were enjoying the moment and that was the main thing. We simply couldn’t have asked for anything better. Paralympics NZ were also very pleased with the night and it was our pleasure to host the team who travelled down from Auckland to accompany Liam. It was great to have their support for the night.
It’s too early for me to give you the actual figures because there are still some costs to be taken into account however the team are working on that. An indicative figure would suggest somewhere in the mid twenties but we will just need a little more time to verify the exact amount. Whatever the actual figure is its fair to say it was a very successful evening.
Our club owes a debt of gratitude to the team who worked to bring the project together. They were Laurie Graham (Convenor), Robyn Clark and Beverley Rogers. Each of them had so much experience to give to the project and that’s what made it work.
One last point I can’t help but make and that is that we will certainly achieve our goal of raising $100,000 this year. Well done and my sincere thanks to all our members who have contributed their time to support any or all of our projects. Without your participation it would not have happened.
