At the recent District Foundation Committee meeting, District Governor Grant Spackman awarded Rotarian Alan Hitchcock with a Paul Harris Fellow +1 for his exemplary service on behalf of District 9930.

Alan, a member of the Tauranga Te Papa Rotary Club, is well known to Rotarians throughout the District as our District Grants Chair, a position that he has held since 2016. Alan has now decided to step down after ten years on the committee.

In presenting the award DG Grant commented on Alan’s long service to Rotary, originally joining the Rotary Club of Upper Hutt in 1993. He was then a member of  Te Rapa Rotary in Hamilton for three years, including two years as Club Secretary.
Alan joined Tauranga Te Papa Rotary in 2002, serving as President in 2011-12. Grant noted Alan’s conscientious attention in following up with Clubs whose projects had received District Grants and providing the committee with regular reports on progress.
