From the pen of District Governor Graham Jull:

Greetings fellow Rotarians. Only 55 sleeps to go until Christmas! We are now starting the fifth month of the 2018-19 Rotary year.

The month of November is Rotary Foundation Month.

Many clubs are promoting the Rotary Foundation (our charity) with events and special functions. This follows on the heels of World Polio Day on October 24th. For the 2017-18 year, 9930 was third in the world for giving to the Rotary Foundation from contributions from 44 of our 51 clubs. Imagine what Rotary could achieve with humanitarian work throughout the world and in our local communities if all 9930 clubs supported the Foundation!

Elizabeth and I have now visited 44 clubs of the 51 in our great district. My car seems to know automatically our way around the district and there is more than 20,000km extra on the dial since    1 July 2018.
All clubs are well into their inspirational year of doing good in the world and Elizabeth and I have really enjoyed the hospitality and obvious commitment and dedication of all Rotarians we have met. Keep up all the fun and fellowship - this does make Rotary stand out in your community.

  • Book early because Hamilton is happening in March 2019.
  •

You can volunteer on Friday 15th March 2019 as a Rotary volunteer for a two-hour Rotary service project before our great conference starts.

I hope you are out and about in your communities doing good.  By wearing your branded Rotary attire, you are engaging with your community and what you do and how you do it reflects very positively on Rotary.

Remember to photograph your activities of what you are doing with the public. Package it and send to me      jullg@xtra.co.nz   so that your club can be highlighted in the Rotary Days presentation at District Conference.

I have added so many memorable highlights to a very long list for our visits to clubs this month.  It is very important to let your community know what you do, don’t keep it a secret. You will all know by now, that I believe Rotarians are “Good people doing good work by having fun and great fellowship”.

That is the easiest way to attract new members. You and your club must look good, be progressive and have fun. Play the devil’s advocate and have an outside look in at your club. Even little enhancements can make a huge difference. PDG Mike Smith is working on producing a kit for membership meetings based on the YASS model. Keep your eyes out for it next year.
On Monday 29th, I was taken for a cycling experience on the fantastic cycleway that Rotary Waipukurau has been helping develop. We also had a go at the Mountain Bike Park nearby and as you will see my thumb is up at the start but not after crashing off on the way down the park.

Keep on Inspiring!!!!!!

Best wishes,
Graham Jull
