Linda Davies, Kate Figgins, and Susie McCarty of Heart Kids. Linda, Susie, and Kate from HeartKids came to talk to us about the prevalence of CHD, or congenital heart disease, and the impact it has throughout these children's lives.
Each day 12 babies are born with at least one heart defect and most can survive now thanks to modern technology.
Kids are supported in so many ways, such as receiving "Maia" the wee mascot bear after their first open heart surgery which later helps them with their rehabilitation exercises and attending summer camps with medical support on hand meaning they don't have to miss out on key childhood experiences.
