The newly elected Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta is now installed.  He along with many thousands of others around the world have taken on leadership roles within Rotary.  Welcome to the new Rotary year 2021/22.  Shekhar’s theme is Serve to Change Lives.  We all know that our voluntary community service is acknowledged by many, that service affects lives, improves lives, and it changes lives.  Whether it be the giver or the receiver – we are all somehow changed by our service.
Each of our 49 Clubs has an enthusiastic President, some Clubs with the experience of being a previous President, others with new Presidents and new leadership teams.  Rotary to many offers a diverse range of activities – some for fellowship, others for projects, others providing time and funding to fulfil a chance that comes their way.

I recently appointed 7 new Assistant Governors to support the Club Presidents.  Also appointed have been the new Chairman of the Membership Committee; the formalising of the Chairman of the Foundation Committee and the appointment of many others as Chairs of District Committees.  The 9930 District home page www.rotary9930.org has a wealth of information about our District, our Committees and provides guidance to Club Executives and members about some of the formalities and ideas that Rotary offers.  Our Training Team provide assistance to all Rotarians with training for Assistant Governor, Chairs of Committees, incoming Presidents, and Club executives as well as Club members.

Rotarians are leaders in their communities – we celebrate July as Leadership and Transition Month.  Thank you to those who have put their hand up to be a Leader.

I look forward to sharing my Rotary experience with you in this coming year- Serve to Change Lives.
