Dr. Stuart Brown Stuart was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow Award by President Jonathan, for his volunteer work with the Hospice in Nepal.
This has been an ongoing passion for Stuart for the last 10 years.
It is now at the point, with the help of Fairfield Rotary and others, where the land has been purchased for a new hospice in Kathmandu.
Further funding is now being raised for the building of a new, 26 bed Hospice, which will also be able to accommodate children. Congratulations Stuart on a well-deserved honour.
Later in the evening, Stuart spoke to us about his volunteer work with Hospice Nepal as a medical doctor, which started in the UK and after numerous locations around the world, he and his wife finished up in Hamilton.
He was to be here for about 2 years, 8 years ago. He has now retired, so hopefully, he will find more time for himself, although he is off to Nepal in a few weeks. Below is a view of the proposed new hospice.
