The Rotary Club of Ahuriri has agreed to coordinate the gifting on behalf of the Starlight Trust to patients in the children’s ward and the mental health inpatient unit at Hawkes Bay Hospital.
In December the club president, Caroline Lampp, and secretary, Mirriam van Maann, delivered 23 gift bags to the children’s ward and 28 bags of goodies to the inpatient unit all of which were gratefully received by hospital staff.
This project is part of the Ahuriri Club's efforts to respond to the needs of our Hawkes Bay community with a particular emphasis on mental health and recovery from the devastating cyclone that hit our region in February.
The effects of the cyclone are ongoing for many of those affected by the floods and mental health issues are common.
