Deb Jamieson is the latest New Member to the Rotary Club of Tauranga Te Papa.

Deb is the Bank Manager of Westpac Tauranga Crossing and Katikati branches and has been with Westpac for 7 years. Deb was an Outward Bounds recipient when she was an 18-year-old and has enjoyed several interactions over the years with various Rotary projects.

Deb is already very active in the Community with Youth Lives Matter, the Westpac Chopper annual appeal and hangar open days, and regularly presents Scam and Fraud presentations to local community groups.
Deb joins 6 other passionate and talented women who have recently joined the club. In 2022 under the banner of Youth Lives Matter they raised awareness for youth mental health and youth suicide prevention, specifically to provide counsellors at Intermediate schools in the Bay of Plenty. Youth Lives Matter inaugural fundraiser in 2022 raised $85,000 and these funds provided a full-time counselor for Mt Maunganui Intermediate.
Experts believe that embedding mental health education into schools catering to those aged 5 to 13 years will play a key role in improving NZ’s poor mental health statistics.

Following the 2022 success Youth Live Matters sought the support of the Rotary Club of Tauranga Te Papa to again run a fundraiser event – A Night on Broadway planned for 27th October. Becoming Rotary member has provided the extra structure and support needed to ensure the ongoing success of a large fundraising event.  The funds raised at this event will enable Tauranga Intermediate to provide a counselor.

Joining Rotary unpins Debs desire to continue as a ‘woman of action’ and make a real difference in our local community supporting youth mental health while also supporting Rotary projects and goals both locally and internationally.
