Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee District 9930
Purpose
This is a new committee that has been added starting Rotary year 2022-23. The purpose of this committee is to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within Rotary clubs in District 9930. 
Key Questions
  1. Stocktake of clubs – Do we have appropriate diversity in our clubs?
  2. Drive for gender balance and other groups – Do we need a specialised drive for a particular groups?  
  3. Modes of specialised clubs – Is there a need to have clubs that have members only from a particular community or group or purpose?
Objectives/Goals
  1. To promote and increase the awareness about diversity, equity and inclusion within Rotary clubs.
  2. To achieve gender equality and inclusion within Rotary clubs.
  3. To add at least one new member from a diverse background in an area.
  4. To provide support to District Membership Committee by promoting inclusion based of different genders, ethnic groups and orientation.

Anoop Khare (James)
District Chair 
Anoop Khare (James) is the past president (2020/21) of Rotary Club of Frankton Te Rapa, member of District Membership Committee since 2021/22. Born in Northern Indian city with School and tertiary education in India. Graduate in Electrical Engineering with specialisation in Industrial Automation for various industries, including Fossil Fuel Power Generation. MBA degree in International Business from Brunel University, London. Work experience of 30 years with Large Multinational companies in various job functions starting with design/commissioning, project management, sales & marketing, Divisional and General Management in 12 different countries in Asia, North America and Western Europe. Owned and Operated Automobile and Hospitality businesses in Melbourne before migrating to New Zealand in late 2015. Now owning two companies and operating five, all related to Commercial Properties on financial management. Married to Alisha Khare, father of a son and a daughter (both married) and grandfather of two mixed race pretty girls. Son is a Rotarian of New Plymouth Club as treasurer and president elect. 
 
Committee Members:
A total of ten members of diverse group out of 12 district areas with equal numbers of male and female. They represent diversity in sexual orientation, age and ethnicity. Due to geographical diversity, committee meetings are held by zoom. First of its kind survey to measure diversity perception among all Rotarians in district 9930 club members is now underway.

Area 1: Vijay Kumar & Mark Milroy (Support): Hamilton East: Vijay is Club Secretary, Sr, Lecturer at Waikato Uni. Pakistan born Hindu. Mark is Maori Elder with great reputation among community.
Area 2: Bob Davis and Doreen Leahy (Support): Taumarunui. Bob is very active in Rainbow community and I am counting on his opinion. Currently in Thailand. Well connected in local community.
Area 3: Alice Clothier: Matamata: New mom, youngest member, Rotary youth exchange member, RYLA candidate in 2017. Admin work experience
Area 4: Brett Smyth: Te Aroha: Granddad. Amazing international experience in electrical contracting, Will be great asset to the committee for keeping us on our mission.
Area 5: Rosie Waller: Rotorua Sunrise: Long history in education, youth, women and low socio-economic communities. Nutritionist and food safety expert.
Area 6: Robyn Hanna: Tauranga: Currently second year as club president, very methodical and has great energy to help bring in changes to Rotary
Area 7: Paul Koch: Papamoa: Paul is new Rotary member since early 2022. He is a business mentor specializing in cultures, logistics and supply chain. Paul has a passion for mountain biking, rugby, travelling, Rotary, real estate, working out at the gym, and family time. He also has a special interest in European cars and motorbikes.
Area 8: Len Eilbeck: Whakatane: Club President. Experienced in nuclear industry, meaning precise actions and thinking for everything. Favours logical, simple and planned approach to work
Area 9: Tracey Hunter: Taradale. Director Club Administration, President Elect. She is also Practice Manager for a local prominent busy retirement home and village
