The Great Charity Art Expo will be raising funds for two fantastic local causes, the Wairaka Centennial Park Development and the work of Jezreel House (a support service for women and children).
We are heartened to have the support of leading community arts exponents from Whakatane, Rotorua and Tauranga and local schools are also involved giving children of all ages the opportunity to exhibit their work. In keeping with the high calibre of the event there will be an invitation-only red-carpet opening night on Thursday 30th June.
The exhibition opening will be held Thursday 30 June starting at 6pm. This is a ticketed event.

A little about the causes we are raising money for.
The Wairaka Centenial Park Development will see the redevelopment of the river-front park, which opened in 1940 as the Whakatane District’s commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. This Whakatane District Council project will upgrade the park with landscaped picnic areas, new shade shelters and BBQ’s, terraced steps into a confined swimming area and a new tidal pool for young swimmers in Ohinemataroa (Whakatane River). Whakatane District Council is seeking community support to raise $270,000.00, one –third of the total cost.
We are also supporting Jezreel House which is a haven for women and children. It offers a place of love, safety and support and works alongside local agencies to promote healthy life choices through life skills, strong support systems and heart change.
