The Lady Killers are the headline act for the Rotary 2017 Concert by the Lake. on Sunday, February 19, 2017.

The concert, which is preparing for the third year, boasts three well-known and entertaining music acts.

New Zealand female band Lady Killers, including Tina Cross, Suzanne Lynch and Jackie Clarke will join funky jazz band Too Many Chiefs and Concert by the Lake regular, talented Waikato musician Jamie McDell.

Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke and Suzanne Lynch make up The Lady Killers who are performing at the Concert by the Lake.

People are encouraged to head down for the afternoon with a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere of great music and an opportunity to socialise with friends.

"It's not an event where you sit and focus solely on an artist. You can chat to your friends and enjoy a picnic. It's a nice social occasion to get your friends together," says Rotary Matamata event coordinator Lynette Stanley.

The concert ta kes place on Rotarian Peter Thissen's property, at a man-made lake, around which mother nature has kindly supplied an amphitheatre of willow trees and cliff face.

Singer Jamie McDell returns to Concert by the Lake in 2017.

Rotary Matamata Publicity Officer David Hulme says members of the service club put in hours of work to create the perfect atmosphere for concert goers.

"No doubt it's a lot of hard work, especially for Peter," says Hulme.

"He did a lot of ground-work for this year and will do even more for next year. There are hundreds of volunteer hours that go in to this."

Wet weather in the lead up to the 2015 concert and a calendar clash with the Wellington Tattoo meant numbers were fewer than anticipated.

This year, Hulme there are no major events on at the same weekend, so as long as the sunny weather comes to the party, organisers are anticipating a great turn out and he is sure the entertainment will not disappoint.

"The Lady Killers play a mixture of country, jazz, and pop. Jackie Clarke, is a well-known comedian as well, so she will entertain the crowd," says Stanley.

Hulme says they are very happy the talented and popular McDell is returning to sing at the 2017 concert.

Tickets are available now, at a cost of $45 per person and proceeds will go towards local charities. You can get tickets from Colourplus, Mitre10 and Paper Plus or through the website www.concertbythelake.co.nz a dedicated site for the concert.
