Guest Speaker-Lidnsey Weaver is the Parks and Recreation manager. She has been involved with Parks and Recreation for 18 years and is passionate about it.

Her role includes liveable communities, community services, Parks operation manager, landscape design, toilet facilities, permanent plantings, sports grounds, libraries, parks, litter bins, and theatres.
Recreational Services are the contracted service that looks after the amenities and Lindsey is
the liaison person between them and the council.
Her role involves meeting with the contractors and meeting the public. She did a very similar job in the UK 10 years ago.

There was a discussion about projects that Rotary could be involved with. Warwick will organise to meet up with Lindsey to look at what needs doing at Whitaker Street look out. Upgrade of the ponds have been budgeted for cleaning then filtration
to be installed.

Lindsey suggested we could build bug hotels – using discarded pellets / carpet etc so these could be installed in the botanical gardens.

Members wondered about clean up and replanting the area Gisborne West planted at the Waikanae stream a few years ago.
Perhaps we could maintain a section of this with regular working bees.
