This month’s theme is the Environment.

The theme for this month is the Environment.
I think most clubs in 9930 and probably New Zealand do something involving the environment. Our New Zealand reputation is “Clean and Green” so I encourage you all to do your part to keep our reputation up.
Over Easter our family rode the CAMJET up the Waikato River here in Cambridge, and what a gem it is. We were able to see the river and its hidden glory from a different angle with its native surrounds and even a gorge we never knew was there. This is something you can do on the Friday of our conference, either the 45-minute thriller and commentary or the 60-minute sedate and commentary. Aaron even has a senior rate so if you are coming to the conference this is worth considering.
As we enter the fourth quarter of our Rotary year there is no let up on activities happening, whether it is duck races, golf tournaments, or even club birthdays. I continue to be encouraged by the different programmes all the clubs have in raising funds or doing good in the community to “Create Hope in the World”.
My big event coming up is our conference here in Cambridge. I have a great team working on this and everything is falling into place nicely. If you intend to come, I urge you to register now before the 12th of April and you will go into a draw to have your primary registration fee refunded. This also applies to first-time registrants. Again, I encourage new members since July 2021 to register for the conference using NEWBIE in the promo code when paying and your registration fee will be reduced to $75. This promo will apply right up to the closing of registrations in May. Some partners might like to come to the Saturday night dinner only. This can be done by purchasing an extra dinner ticket when registering as the primary registrant (one registering for the whole conference and the partner coming for the dinner only).
My second big event is a visit by our Rotary International President Gordon McInally. Gordon and Heather will be in our district on 5th and 6th of June. There will be an invitation in your inbox on Monday 8th April, where you can register for a mix and mingle with Gordon and Heather. This event will be on 6th June at the Novotel Tainui in Hamilton from 5pm till 7.30pm, Gordon will also deliver a speech at this event. We have a programme mapped out during his stay here before we take them back to Auckland on the 7th. The mix and mingle will be restricted to 200 so when you get the invite, act quickly!!
Regionalisation continues to roll out. There are vacant Rotary Community Leader positions still to be filled so I encourage those leaders amongst you to consider applying.
