Mount Maunganui is a well established Bay of Plenty community with wonderful beaches, a progressive retail sector, and a sizeable industry providing a huge range of products and services.
The Port of Tauranga shares its shoreline with Mt Maunganui . The port is continuing to expand and currently handles the highest tonnage of any port in New Zealand.
The “Mount” side of the port is the berth for over 80 cruise ships annually. Our great climate frequently tops the annual list as New Zealand’s sunniest spot. We are often referred to as paradise. Brand Mount Maunganui is very strong.
The Rotary Club of Mt Maunganui was chartered in 1966 and will celebrate the 50-year milestone in May, 2016.
In our half-century of service we have engaged with, and continue to be involved in, a wide range of activities and projects serving all ages. A few examples are:
- Infants: supporting Plunket
- Youth: Scholarships, Science Summer School, Outward Bound, RYLA, RYPEN and many others
- Senior Citizens: supporting Waipuna Hospice, sponsor to 9 Probus Clubs in Mount and Papamoa area
Our major annual fundraising project is Circus Quirkus. The event is a magical experience for underprivledged children and, at the same time, raises funds of Mt Maunganui Rotary’s community and international service efforts.

We meet weekly at the Omanu golf course, a beautiful venue with a first class caterer. A great club to visit, and great club to join.
