Category 5 Hurricane Irma has been barrelling through the Caribbean with sustained wind speeds of 300 km/h.

A highly-trained ShelterBox Response Team has arrived in the region to understand how we can help the families who have lost everything. We already have 2,000 ShelterKits stored nearby in Panama.

Hurricane Irma has wreaked havoc in the Caribbean, flattening homes on St Martin, Barbuda, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba. Florida is now in the potential path of this ferocious storm.

'RIP Lindsay Thorburn'

ShelterBox New Zealand was immensely saddened when it learnt of the news that Lindsay Thorburn, a former ShelterBox Director & Trustee, Rotarian and driving force behind ShelterBox New Zealand, had passed away after a very short illness.
Lindsay will be very sorely missed, but we shall ensure that his memory lives on within ShelterBox.

'Stopping The Chaos'

The last few weeks have brought devastating flooding around the world. ShelterBox is working hard to stem the damage and bring back peace and stability to people's lives.

More than 1.7 million people have been affected in Nepal, while a third of Bangladesh is under water. Huge areas of India and Myanmar are also in need of support.

We have a ShelterBox Response Team on the ground, assessing the situation in Nepal. Another team is in Bangladesh right now. We’re working hard with local authorities and Rotarians in both countries to understand how best we can help.

The cast of Cornish TV show Doc Martin have been showing their support for a local disaster relief charity.

As the hit show begins its eighth series on ITV next week, the much loved actors have been checking out the work of Truro-based ShelterBox.

And it turns out the two do actually have something in common...

ShelterBox began in a small Cornish town in 2000, a great humanitarian idea that has now spread worldwide.

Doc Martin also began in 2000, as a character in the hit movie 'Saving Grace'. It has since grown into one of the world's most popular dramas, now in its eighth series with massive TV audiences in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and America.
