Arno is currently employed by the New Zealand Police as a Staff Safety Tactical Trainer a role he has had since January 2008.
He has more than 30 years’ experience in Law Enforcement. In his present role, he is responsible for developing, training and implementing Occupational Health and Safety and risk management initiatives, both job specific and across the industry. His current primary profession is to train and provide solutions for police how to be safe. He is a qualified Assessor and Moderator.
He was the Commander (Lt Colonel) in the South African Police, He has investigated hundreds of crimes such as homicides, serial killers, police shootings to name a few and trained Police staff in Crime Investigation, Court Procedures, Justification, High-Risk Discussion making. He is a qualified crime scene expert and forensic expert.
Arno showed a video of a search where a firearm was fired. He did this to demonstrate the need for threat assessment and the tools police need for safety.
Police integrated tactical training uses TENR as their tool to assess Threat, Exposure, Necessity and Response in every situation. This will improve decision making by eliminating complacency.
Arno talked about the arsenal available to frontline police including spray, batons, dogs, and showed us tasers and firearms (glock pistol and AK47 rifle).
Arno is proud of their safety training and the tools they give. The aim of Police Integrated Tactical Training (PITT) is to develop or revise Police responders’ knowledge, skills and attributes to enable them to carry out the operational role and responsibilities in their response for incidents.
