Leonie Tisch was brought up in Tangowahine (Northland) and Onewhero (North Waikato) before moving to the Matamata district in 1974.
She joined the Rotary Club of Matamata in 2002 and has held many positions, including the Club’s first woman President 2009-2010. In 2013 was D9930 Group Study Exchange Team Leader to District 5050 (USA/Canada). She is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Leonie’s career has been in education, health and as a company director in farming and property enterprises.
Leonie has had a varied and interesting involvement in many organisations over the years, including School Board of Trustees 1989-2001 and Chair Matamata College Board of Trustees 1998-2001; Waikato School Trustees Association 1991-2001 and awarded a New Zealand School Trustees Association ‘Certificate of Honour for Service’; and as an elected member of the inaugural Waikato District Health Board.
Her current involvements include:
Trustee, Waikato Heart Trust since 1995;
Councillor, Matamata-Piako District Council since 2004 and from 2010 Chair of the Resource Consent Hearings Commission and Council Representative on the greater Waikato Spatial Plan Committee
Trustee and Deputy Chair, Pohlen Hospital Trust Board since 2005; .
Leonie and her husband Lindsay have two married adult children, Andrea (Christchurch) in Banking and Finance and Karl (London) in the hospitality industry. They have two granddaughters.
Leisure time is spent on the golf course, in the garden (not the bunker), or traveling and spending time enjoying good company, good food, and great wine!
